Compliance and Legal Research
Global Compliance
Multi-national companies and law firms must be vigilant in monitoring regulatory requirements in the respective countries in which they do business. Keeping up with the changing regulatory environment and tracking statutory deadlines is not only a substantial administrative burden, it also carries significant downside risk to companies operating globally. Mindcrest’s global regulatory compliance practice works with legal compliance managers to assist them in designing accurate and efficient monitoring systems which leverage technology thereby enhancing both their monitoring and reporting capabilities.
We generally work closely with companies’ compliance groups to identify their particular regulatory needs. We then create and update compliance manuals and summaries regarding legislative changes and enter them into customized databases. Each database can be formatted to automatically remind process owners of upcoming compliance deadlines, and also permits the process owners to report their compliance progress. Depending on our client’s individual preference, Mindcrest will either transfer the database to the client’s existing software or maintain the database and import it into a web-based format, thereby providing the compliance manager with real-time monitoring and reporting capability.
In addition to managing our clients’ exposure to risk, Mindcrest’s global compliance monitoring system also streamlines their compliance reporting function. This is our value-added proposition: Since we provide compliance managers with updated, accurate data – often in real time – the companies’ resources are free to be deployed in a more strategic manner.
Legal Research
Legal research, while indispensable, is often expensive and time consuming even for the most seasoned practitioner. In many cases, having a resource to compile and summarize the relevant authority will allow attorneys the time necessary to properly analyze the legal and strategic issues in the context of litigation or business decision making.
Mindcrest provides our clients with the ability to better manage the potentially exorbitant time and financial costs of legal research. We provide high-quality legal and data research services to companies and law firms, thereby allowing them to improve efficiency, reduce cost and better utilize their valuable internal resources. Our experienced teams of researchers work in the arenas of litigation and non-litigation research, including the preparation of research memoranda, federal and state statutory and case law research, including multi-state surveys, international legal research, and preparation of comparisons of multiple jurisdictions’ laws with regard to issues relevant to our clients.
For example, our research services include U.S. and U.K. litigation-related research, examination of specific statutory laws in Latin American and Asia-Pac countries, multi-jurisdictional commercial legal comparisons, U.S. 50-state surveys, regulatory research in support of global business expansion, research of banking regulations in comparative U.S. jurisdictions, global IP and privacy law research, and global telecommunications regulatory research. Our research results are delivered in memoranda with embedded links for ease of reference, Excel spreadsheets, charts and graphs, or virtually any delivery method requested by our clients.
